INTRODUCTION

The 2nd International Conference on Underwater System Technology: Theory and Applications 2008 (USYS’08) is organized by the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Center for Unmanned System Studies, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB)Indonesia and Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Malaysia. This conference marks the successful continuation of the 1st. Underwater System Technology conference (USYS’06) held in 2006.

The main aim of USYS’08 is to provide a platform to researchers, scientists, engineers, academicians, as well as industrial professionals from all over the world to disseminate their current research results and development activities relating to underwater system technology, relevant theories as well as applications. USYS’08 focuses on exploring new technology and approach to utilize the vast resources of the oceans, developing new engineering strategies for the preservation of the oceans eco-system, as well as providing a specialized forum for discussing the future of underwater system technology.

USYS’08 covers a broad spectrum of research areas of underwater system technology. This conference welcomes original, unpublished submissions for oral or poster presentation. The topics of interest are, but not limited to:

:: MARINE VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY
:: AI SYSTEMS
:: CONTROL SYSTEM
:: SOFTWARE ENGINEERING AND SIMULATION
:: OCEAN ENGINEERING
:: OTHER APPLICATIONS
see CFP for details

Thank you for participating in the USYS’08 conference.
Without your interest and enthusiasm, the event would not have been as successful as it was. We would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions to help us to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the conference.
