Each one of us has their own set of responsibilities that need to be performed. It can be those personal ones, or/and which involves others. Making decisions to execute the tasks are solely dependent on each person involved. The tasks may be urgent and important, but the final act of delivery is never guaranteed. This is where free-will roam wild. The repercussion of non-delivery will be felt by all, either directly or indirectly. The interdependency of life on earth guaranteed this outcome. The limit of damage can sometimes be catastrophic, and has no relation to the size and type of action. The man-made disasters which have occurred in past centuries were mostly due to ignorance to those small seemingly insignificant indicators and danger signals. Non-performance of a particular person in any organisations is not unusual. The after-effect of such behaviour may be minor or otherwise. The organisations can be a real infrastructure or a project which has its own structure and inter/intra linkages. The ability for an organisation or a project to absorb this minor lax will determine whether it will survive in the long run. There must be some sort of absorption system in the organisation for this organisational behaviour. The robustness of adaptation to changes will be crucial. Antagonist elements may always be present, but the system robustness will be able to handle any such disturbance. The system is such that no modules or components are too important to the normal running of the process. If only everyone who has some form of data and mode of communication take the necessary action to address the problem, then the normal incidence of organisational frictions and clashes can be avoided. The elimination of energy usage to this futile entanglement must be minimised. It can never be eliminated, but minimise it can be done. The only condition is that the person taking charge must know the task execution scope. Situational-aware and being conscious of the perimeters of influence are fundamental, so as not to trigger unnecessary dissatisfaction. Responsibilities are too big to be executed by a single person. The job must be shared optimally between capable personalities. Each one of us must deliver and execute our tasks to the best of our abilities. There are no other options. The understanding and execution of shared responsibilities are paramount. Completions of the responsibilities are normally tied with a clear understanding of awards and recognition. Nevertheless, working sincerely is the best way forward. Awards and recognition can never be enough to compensate for the sacrifices that we have made. Hence, the tendency to feel dejected is always present. This is the reason responsibilities must be done on the shoulder of sincerity and trustworthiness. No amount of awards can really commensurate the efforts that we have planted. And, certainly, the execution of responsibilities will always tie to the issue of rules and law.The role and function of existing rules, in whatever sphere of life activities, are purely to regulate human behaviours. This, in effect, is to ensure that each person’s right does not get infringed upon. As a matter of fact, human-being cannot live without a stable system or procedures. Human-being loves stability and dislike uncertainty. Uncertainty leads to increase feeling of risks and forthcoming maladies. Civilisations have thrived on commonly acceptable rules and regulation – no matter via the democratic or totalitarian modes. Just look at the history of the Greek, Romans or Islamic civilisations, certain specific precepts of rules and regulations are adopted. They are made known to the masses, and implemented vehemently. The term “Draconian Law” refers to a ruler who was ruthless in his quest for complete obedience, even though his judgement, most often than not, did not commensurate with the offences. But, the implementation has never faltered from being executed. Human-being is a system with several interacting sub-systems. In our body, we have the blood circulation, lymphatic, nerve and breathing systems, among others, interacting with each other for the benefit of the host. In case one of them chooses to disobey the rules of engagement in-between sub-systems, then surely the overall system will break-down. In the midst of us, wanting to break free from the chain of rules of law, we are desperately in need of them. Life becomes unbearable when there are no boundaries or rules that can be followed. Anarchy or a situation devoid of rules and regulation seldom ends on the high-note. In fact, like the need to breath, we are “forced” to abide by them. We cannot choose not to breathe, for example, unless we are ready to face death. Not a pretty end game. Most rules are man-made; hence, the imperfections and fallibility of a simple human being are embedded in the derived rules or laws. No matter how sincere and fair one may be, he/she will never be able to be absolutely fair to the case in hand. We can only be fair based on the evidences, not what’s hidden. On top of this, our perception is also easily influenced. The influence can be either way of the judgement, but still not being fair in the bigger scheme of things. Yes, we have strived to our utmost abilities in weighing the pros and cons of the issue being evaluated, but it depends much also on the perception or interpretation of the available information. Misinterpretations lead to miscarriage of justice. In the modern history of court justice, the cases of misjudgement are not isolated, but occur from time to time. Are these planned? Of course not. But, this shows the weaknesses in the existing system. Man-made laws are progressive. But, being progressive or adaptable must not be on the expense of justice and fairness. At the end of the day, we cannot vote truth. Truth stands on its own. But, we must seek sincerely for truth. This will bring justice and fairness to all. One will not loose anything by sticking to the truth, defying the urge to lie and cheat. Rules and laws are important, as critical as the air we breathed and the water we drank. It may seem interesting to not having to follow any regulations. But, very soon we will realise things are not as beautiful we imagined them to be. Truth cannot fend for itself. It needs champions. We must be ready to become the champions for truth. This will bring meaning to life. Ironically, this is the rule of life also, i.e. to bring meaningful reasons/purpose in living; we must be the bearer of truth. And, this is the real responsibility.
